The incident took place around 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, on the parkway near Islip and Exit 39, said New York State Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim.
According to Ahlgrim, the crash occurred when a man driving a pickup truck westbound on the parkway hit the DOT truck carrying the four workers.
All five were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
DOT officials have been reminding drivers on Twitter of the Move Over law which requires drivers to change lanes and slow down when they see highway crews.
The crash is under investigation.
